Lilly in the United Kingdom
Lilly UK became our first affiliate business to open outside of the US in 1934, with our UK HQ located in Basingstoke.
For more than 85 years, we have remained committed to bringing life-changing, innovative medicines to UK patients. We currently market 25 medicines in the UK and have more than 60 potential medicines currently in development.
Our UK operations have played a central role in our company’s global development. We have 669 talented employees across the UK, working in roles such as regulatory affairs, medical affairs, marketing and communications. We are proud of the diversity of our workforce, with the majority of our senior leadership team being women.

Powered By Partnerships
We work in close partnership with NHS, government, academia and patient groups to accelerate the delivery of innovative treatments, refine patient care pathways and achieve improved health outcomes. By combining our expertise, experience and resources, we can deliver the best possible healthcare for patients in the UK.

Driven by Innovation
Over the past decade, we have invested more than £1.9 billion in our UK research operations. We are currently involved in 106 UK research collaborations across the country, and conducting more than 56 clinical trials across 288 study locations in areas including diabetes, oncology, immunotherapy, pain and neurodegeneration. We are proud that our work in the UK has been awarded both the Prix Galien and the Queen’s Award for Innovation.

Broadening our Impact
We are committed to playing an active role in our local communities. In Basingstoke we are proud to work closely with Destination Basingstoke (a not-for-profit company, managing a portfolio of showcase events for the local area), and are proud to sponsor headline events including the Basingstoke Half Marathon. A number of our employees took part in the races, and we were thrilled to win the “Corporate Challenge” in 2019.
Lilly’s Global Day of Service is one of the largest single day volunteer programs in the world. In 2019, our UK employees volunteered 3,848 hours supporting their local communities, such as assisting local schools and community groups.
