Public Affairs Associate

The Public Affairs team maintains crucial relationships with the media, parliamentarians, public officials and community stakeholders. In this role, the student is responsible for handling media enquiries, drafting political correspondence and assisting in the development of corporate responsibility and advocacy strategies; offering the opportunity to apply political and communications theory at a multi-national company.

Pricing, Reimbursement & Access Associate

The Pricing, Reimbursement and Access (PRA) team is responsible for demonstrating to the NHS that Lilly’s medicines demonstrate value for money and ensuring patients have access to healthcare innovation. In this role, the student will have the opportunity to develop promotional materials for the field team to influence local budget holders. This role requires the student to work cross-functionally alongside the different brand teams.

Regulatory Affairs Associate

The Regulatory Affairs team is responsible for obtaining, maintaining and managing medicinal product marketing authorisations and clinical trial authorisations in line with legal requirements and business goals. In this role, the student works under supervision in conducting various regulatory activities for the UK, Irish and Maltese markets which involves interactions with numerous internal functions as well as national competent authorities.

Statisticians and Statistical Analysts

Statisticians and Statistical Analysts have a critical role to play in support of medical research. Analyses can focus on safety & efficacy, pharmacokinetics, early signals to see if the drug is working, or to inform decisions during pricing and reimbursement discussion with governments. You will be closely integrated into the work across our European department as well as potentially working with doctors, scientists, sales and academia.

So far, I have really enjoyed my placement year. It has been so fun and inspiring to see others in their careers and learning how they have got to where they are. My team have been so welcoming and eager to help me learn and improve on my work. I have been able to put my knowledge and previous academic achievements to practice whilst working on some great projects. I would highly recommend Lilly as a great company, that is focused on attracting student talent!

Quality Associate

The Quality Assurance team fulfils our commitment to provide customers with high quality products by assuring the safety, identity, strength, purity and quality of our marketed products. We comply with regulations and Lilly quality objectives to ensure patient safety, customer satisfaction and compliance with health authorities' expectations. Your role will involve working cross-functionally with local and international teams within Lilly as well as third parties contracted by Lilly.

Medical Affairs Associate

The Medical Affairs team provide scientific and clinical expertise that bridge the gap between product development and product commercialisation. In this role, the student will work cross-functionally to support Lilly’s therapeutic teams. Largely, the student will support a team of Medical Educators to develop, maintain and continuously improve a highly commended diabetes education programme.

Brand Marketing Associate

The brand marketing teams are aligned with a disease area and corresponding medications. The brand marketing teams implement the brand strategy and support many functions to deliver this. In this role, the student will have the opportunity to; assist on many projects, manage and ensure compliance of materials, organise national and local meetings and create promotional and educational content.

Market Research Associate

The Market Research team is responsible for discovering actionable insights that influence business decisions by championing the voice of the customer. In this role, the student will have the opportunity to support the management of market research projects, create and implement surveys, conduct desk research, and perform ad-hoc data analyses. Cross-functional, collaborative working will be essential in this role.

During my placement so far, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of impactful projects, both internally and externally, which have helped to diversify my knowledge of the EU regulatory landscape and the pharmaceutical industry as a whole. I’ve loved collaborating with cross-functional global colleagues, ultimately learning from their vast expertise and experiencing their drive to deliver vital medicines to patients and shape the future regulatory environment. As I reflect back to the start of the placement, I wonder where the time has gone but also appreciate how much I’ve grown both professionally and personally!

Finance Associate

The Planning and Financial Reporting Team is part of the wider finance organisation and plays a critical role in supporting many teams in the business through ensuring correct reporting of financial data, driving for investment maximisation and collaborating with those teams to build robust financial forecasts. In this role, the placement student will have a very rounded finance experience including business partnering with other teams, accounting, financial reporting and supply chain management.

Procurement Associate

As a Procurement Associate, your aim will be to help deliver a competitive edge for Lilly by linking external supplier capabilities to internal business needs. By facilitating strategic sourcing activities, which aim to bring the outside in, it will be your responsibility to help bring new, innovative and cost saving opportunities to the business, that allow for future pipeline investments and greater value for our patients.

Marketing Services Associate

The Marketing Services Associate assists in leading business relationships with Lilly´s third parties with aim to maximize service levels and implement sustainable changes to better support our office and field-based teams. The role partners with multiple functions internally and externally to understand the needs to develop logistic tools and process that would benefit team Lilly and consequently patients. The role provides great opportunity to continue growing skills for building and maintaining strong business relationships across different geographies.

Patient Support Programmes Associate

Patient Support Programmes (PSPs) are activities that provide help to patients and ultimately create better outcomes. New brands and therapeutic indications give opportunities to plan new services based off patient and customer feedback, aligning to the needs of the local health environment e.g., the NHS. The PSP role coordinates across multiple functions and provides a great opportunity to develop a real knowledge of the commercial and medical functions.

My placement year was a great opportunity to learn intangible skills and knowledge that couldn’t have been taught from a textbook. The real-world experience enabled me to adapt and grow as I was placed outside of my comfort zone and confronted with new challenges. It helped me gain insight into the inner workings of the corporate world and the various career opportunities available to me. It has been a great opportunity to focus on my career development.

Meetings and Congresses Associate

The Lilly Meetings and Congresses team together with our third party Meeting Planning Companies (MPCs), are the point of customer service, communication and project management for all locally funded meetings and events. Activities include oversight of venue sourcing, contracting (speaker and venues) and meeting logistics including travel and transparency rules. The student will engage as a strong business partner with the Meeting Owners and other key functions to ensure excellent experiences for our customers that are providing a service to Lilly or that are invited as delegates to congresses and meetings.
